Celebrating authentic images through travel photography

Wanderlust is the UK’s longest running consumer travel magazine providing an original mix of inspirational travel writing and information for the discerning traveller, both in print and online.

Their expert editorial teams share insightful articles about famous and lesser-known locations and the latest travel trends, which feature incredible and beautiful photography and videography giving readers a taste of what it’s really like to be there.

Working with Wanderlust for this competition is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and showcase together the dedication of both photographers and videographers who capture the real world around them. In valuing the authenticity of images taken by photographers who know too what it’s like to have visited those places, or even live there, Alamy has always looked to feature images you can trust from our diverse contributor community.

Enter to win £12,000 worth of prizes

The overall winner of the best photo categories and the overall winner of the best video categories will jet off with a plus-one on a deluxe, 7-day off-the-beaten-track nature or culture-themed trip around Türkiye, courtesy of Wanderlust’s destination partner Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency.

The winners will get away from the crowds to experience some of Türkiye’s most beautiful and under-the-radar areas, escaping in serene nature or fully immersing themselves in the country’s rich culture.

Both winners will be commissioned on a content creation project as part of the trip that will include capturing stunning video and photos that Wanderlust will cover editorially upon their return, showcasing their work to the most passionate travellers on the planet.

The photography and video winners will also enjoy:

  • First place photo and first place video: £3,000 each
  • Second place: £2,000 each
  • Third place, £1,000 each

How do photographers and videographers get involved?

Head over to Wanderlust Visions competition page to get the full details and requirements of the competition. The competition is open for generalist and specialist photographers and videographers so there is room for everyone to enter – they are looking for the best you have to offer across five distinct categories:

  • People – capturing real people and emotions is a way to build genuine connections with the viewer and gives us a better understanding of how people interact within their environments
  • Wildlife – show how unique the climate and therefore biodiversity of a country can be, through animals and their behaviours within their natural habitats
  • Landscape – it could be a mountain range like the exotic ‘Rainbow mountains’ of Zhangye National Geopark in China, or the stunning annual display of wildflower carpets of Namaqualand in South Africa
  • Culture – images can be powerful in evoking the sights and sounds of a place, and capturing a local music festival or a religious event can often make you feel like you’re really there
  • Türkiye – images and videos that capture the sights of this beautiful country from Istanbul’s lively street food markets to the captivating sight of hot air balloons floating over the characteristic ‘fairy chimneys’ (rock formations) in Cappadocia

As mentioned, the two overall winners will also be commissioned with a content creation project whilst in Türkiye, which Wanderlust will feature in their magazine, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to add to your portfolio of work.
